Our beloved barn needed some support and TLC
2018: RAS was born
The Rossland Arena Society Incorporated in June 2018 with the mandate to deliver community benefits by improving the viability of the Rossland Arena through advocacy, programming, increased usage, fundraising, and facility management as required with the short term focus on fundraising for safety upgrades allowing our barn to live another day.
RAS provides info to City Council
The RAS ran a business survey canvassing all businesses in town and provided city council with the results indicating overwhelming support for the arena. RAS also shared the Economic Impact of Hockey in Canada study showing that hockey-related tourism in small towns is a key driver of direct impact.
2019: RAS Window Decals/Merch/Fundraisers
The RAS distributed window decals to businesses in town, provided supporters with arena merchandise and sticker options and ran various fundraisers, including the Fly Wide Open golf tourney and hot dog sales.
2019-2023: RAS takes over Bottle Donation Bin at RSS
The Rossland Arena Society takes over the Bottle Donation Bin at RSS, as a service to the community and as fundraiser for arena improvements.
2019+: RAS runs the Arena Concession
The Rossland Arena Society commits to operating the arena concession, as a service to the ice users and as fundraiser for arena improvements. The RAS has been able to make concession improvements and upgrades every year.
2021: Arena Lounge Upgrade Begins
The RAS started the Lounge Revitalization Project! The arena lounge is well used and a versatile community space but is outdated and could use a revitalization to make it more efficient and enjoyable for many community users. The RAS commissioned drawings and started seeking grants to help kick start this project. Rossland Rotary has been a strategic partner in taking on Phase 1 of the project - the washrooms.
2022: Arena Entrance Upgrade Begins
The Rossland Arena Society collaborates with the City of Rossland to give the arena entrance a fresh new look. Improvements included a new coat of paint, new flooring, upgraded hooks, a water bottle filling station and historical pictures.
Ongoing Improvements
The RAS continues to coordinate improvements at the rink. Examples include stick holders, wifi upgrades, bluetooth enablement, upgraded net pegs and more.
Trusted advisor
The RAS seeks to be a reliable advisor and facilitator for arena user groups and the City of Rossland alike, ultimately benefiting the entire community.
